Our Company

Agrimpex Trading Ltd. was established in 1948 as an exclusive exporter and importer of grain, protein and oilseeds. It remained a sole player until the late 1980s, gradually expanding its activities through the whole world. Besides Europe, its products found their home in the Far East and Africa, while goods originated from South America were imported to Hungary.

Its traders established extensive relationships with their peers around the world and developed sophisticated trades like compensational businesses and futures trading on US commodities exchanges.

​

During the transitional years of the late '80s, Agrimpex Ltd has gone through on several changes - most importantly it became a private company. Its value has been recognised by foreign investors and its first owner was a UK based CP Holding Ltd. The new owners - who were more experienced in real estate - soon realised that the specialities of the commodities trading requires special knowledge. They invited the Hamburg based family trading house Cremer Group as co-owners and supervisors.

During several successful years Agrimpex Ltd acquired local mills and compounders Agrimill and Viktoria, logistics company Agrovagon and established a joint operation with professional grain warehouse company ATI Depo.

​

In 1996 the owners decided to separate the trading from warehousing and the real estate business. They founded Agrimpex Commodities and all trading activities were transferred to the new company. Two years later, in 1998, a new management took over and transformed it to a modern commodity trader and stabilised its position in the Hungarian grain market. The same year the Cremer Group gained 100 pct ownership in Agrimpex Commodities.
